Who are we?

We are After Three Club!

Based at Abbeymead School in Gloucester, we are one of the most established after school clubs in Gloucestershire, running for over 27 years offering caring, professional and affordable childcare.

We aim to provide a fun and friendly environment which safeguards your child’s well being, where they can enjoy their free time after school.

What we do

We aim to incorporate the ‘Play Work Principals’ in order to help your child learn and grow, whilst in a safe environment.

We offer free choice play for children in primary school, up until the age of 11.

This allows affordable child care for the parents and carers alongside valuable play and learning time for the children.

27 years of caring, professional and affordable childcare

After Three Club is one of the only childcare centres of its kind, with an emphasis on free choice play, we guarantee your child will enjoy their time spent here and promise that they continue to learn and develop in a fun and interactive way.

We do things differently, in a positive way...

We bring out the best in children, that is our promise.

To continue further skills and development, we have our ATC Council, which are child led. This allows your child to be involved in managing a small budget and setting the meeting agenda, with these meetings occurring once every half term.

For the children, this a great way to improve their communication skills, thinking skills and allows them to feel like part of an incredible group. They will even be given their own badge, which they will be sure to cherish!

We are based at Abbeymead Primary School in Gloucester.

To ensure your child’s safety, all of our staff are DBS checked and hold an enhanced DBS disclosure.

All staff are either qualified, have relevant experience, will be working towards a relevant child care qualification or will be given full training as to enhance the quality of care provided.

Our staff are first aid qualified, and also trained in food safety and child protection.

We comply with the child ratios set out by National Standards, which are as follows:
1 member of staff for every 8 children under 8 years old
1 member of staff for every 10/12 children over 8 years old

Children will be supervised at all times, for both indoor and outdoor play, and staff are made aware of all health and safety procedures alongside regular risk assessments.

When filling out our registration form, you must disclose your child’s allergies.

Once this is done, your child will be given a snack card, this enables us to monitor what your child eats at After Three Club, to which we can keep you informed and ensure your child’s allergies are catered for.

We offer a wide range of activities and play for your child, these include but are not limited to:

Indoor Play:
Rainbow Room – We house games consoles, laptops and tablets here, we use a rota format so children have limited time on these.
Toys and games are inspected regularly, and include Imaginex, dressing up, Magnetix, soft toys, dolls and prams, pre-school toys and games, material for making dens, books and comics, Duplo and Lego, snooker, giant Jenga and dominoes, Bionicles and Play Mobile, popup tents and tunnels, puzzles and board games, Barbie, Polly Pocket, Ben 10 and other action figures, play animals including dinosaurs, My Little Pony, CD player, cars and garage, selection of DVD’s and much much more in our exploration cupboard where we house a lot more items for free play.

We also have crafts that are available for the children to use. We do provide an apron or an old t-shirt if your child does want to use the crafts, however we must disclose that we cannot guarantee that paint will not get on their uniform.

Outdoor Play:
We have use to all the outside area at the school, which has lots of fun floor games, pirate ship, a trim trail, climbing frame and a shaded decked area.

We also have grass areas for sports style games such as football. As with our indoor games and toys, outdoor items are also regularly checked to ensure they are safe for use.

Our house rules are kept in line with Abbeymead Primary Schools rules in which we use the yellow and red card system for negative behaviour. The general rule of thumb for this system is that a yellow card is a warning, two yellow cards in one week will result in a red card, meaning a weeks ban from the child’s favourite activity. Parents and/or carers will also be notified when their child receives a red card.

In order to enforce positive behaviour, we use a silver and gold reward system. Children will earn silver and gold cards for being polite, good behaviour and helping to tidy away. If your child is on the silver or gold card at the end of the day, they will receive a small sweet to take home (this will be be in line with any allergies your child may have). At the end of the week, if your child has the most silver or gold cards, they are able to pick a prize that they can keep. At the end of each term, prizes and a certificate are given out to the child from each year group with the most silver and gold cards, with a small cash prize for 1st, 2nd and third place.

At After Three Club, the emphasis is on free choice play, so we are less structured than school, however we do expect a level of good behaviour from all children.

We must note, repetitive disrespect of staff members may lead to exclusions being put in place and purposeful neglect or damage to toys and equipment may result in parents and/or carers to replace what their child has broken.

The After Three Club Council was put in place in order to give some of the older children a chance to further develop their skills as they grow.

The council meets up once every half term for discussions on After Three Club as a whole, what can be improved, toys and games they like, toys and games they don’t like and how they feel about the club as a whole. The meetings are child led and they set the agenda. They work with a small budget which they can use to request new toys or games which they all agree on, they will feedback to our staff, and will endeavour to meet their requests.

All councillors will have a badge to show off to their friends, and will help in collecting the KS2 for the After Three Club, and will act as a buddy for reception children, and any new children joining ATC.

Of course! ATC accepts the following childcare vouchers – Kiddivouchers, Edenred, Care 4, Sodexho, ComputerShare, Fideliti. Please note that payments must be paid no later than the 7th of every month
